Timothy Bentinck

I left the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1978 and immediately started working in fringe theatre in Bristol, Bath and London. 
 

The Bristol Revue Group show at Edinburgh was featured in a BBC Radio 'Best of the Fringe' programme, and a few years later, playing Torvald Helmer in A Doll's House at the Bridge Street Theatre, London, we got a lovely review from Charles Spencer in the Observer, and we were invited to represent the UK at the Ibsen Festival in Oslo.
 

I've done Shakespeare and Chekhov at Coventry, Joseph... and Beaux' Stratagem at Plymouth (as Archer - haha), and played Tesman in Ibsen's Hedda Gabler at the King's Head.
 

In the West End I've played the Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and, at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, Captain Bryce in Arcadia and Hubert in Night Must Fall.
 

After a gap of nearly eight years, in 2010 I returned to the boards, playing Frank in Educating Rita at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury, and touring my one-man show Love Your Chocolates, surprising audiences who have come to see David Archer with songs, videos, stories and live on-stage lambing!
 

In 2018 I returned to the Edinburgh Fringe after a gap of nearly 40 years, playing the Prime Minister in a new comedy, Brexit by Tom Salinsky and Robert Khan. Five star reviews and a sell out 300 seats every day, with Mike McShane, Jo Caulfield, Pippa Evans and Hal Cruttenden. Then transferred to The King's Head, Islington in November 2018, with Adam Astill, Thom Tuck, Lucy Montgomery and Pippa Evans.
